It has been my honour and privilege to serve the community I love as Councillor for Ward 2. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and of the work we have done to protect Fort Erie’s interests, defend local decision-making and strengthen our ability to remain a strong and independent municipality.
I humbly ask for your support and your vote so we can continue building on that progress, advocating for Fort Erie and protecting the community we call home. Together, we can keep moving forward as a strong, resilient and independent Fort Erie.
Serving Ward 2. Standing Up for Fort Erie.
For the past two terms, Nick has worked to deliver practical results for Ward 2 while standing up for Fort Erie’s interests. That work includes fighting for the future of Douglas Memorial Hospital, helping move the Lions Douglas Heights affordable seniors’ housing expansion forward, building provincial relationships that have increased grant funding and supporting safer neighbourhood streets - including Fort Erie’s first comprehensive traffic-calming project on Concession Road in Ward 2.
Douglas Memorial also serves as a warning about what can happen when local control is surrendered to a larger, centralized system. Community needs can be overlooked, and essential services can disappear. That lesson is one reason Nick was proud to push back against the former Regional Chair’s attempt to amalgamate Niagara’s municipalities. He will continue defending Fort Erie’s right to remain strong, resilient and independent while protecting the financial reserves residents have spent decades building from being absorbed and spent elsewhere.
Service to the community has always extended beyond Council. Nick has served on Town advisory boards, coached with Fort Erie Minor Ball and today serves as Chair of Community Living Fort Erie. At the centre of his life are Lauren, William and Penelope. They are the reason behind everything he does - and why he works so hard for the community they are proud to call home.
Another major review of Niagara’s regional governance lies ahead, with services potentially being realigned and the province holding the power to appoint the Regional Chair who will have "Strong Chair" powers. Experienced leadership is more important than ever. A proven understanding of how our municipalities, finances and services work will be essential to protecting Fort Erie’s interests and shaping what comes next.
